Every Tuesday, Xiaomi's open purchase event attracts a large amount of attention. However, it also brings about a series of doubts. In the past week, including CCTV News, many media outlets have targeted Xiaomi on Weibo, criticizing its "hunger marketing" and accusing it of pre-determining the results of the open purchase events.

In response to these external doubts, Xiaomi made a direct response last night in its official community. Xiaomi stated that the truth behind the online rumors of "pre-determined open purchase results" is actually the traffic diversion rule. This is done to reduce the server's instantaneous load and ensure that the system does not crash. The page sends a request to the server every 6-10 seconds, with a certain percentage of users entering each second, ensuring a smooth purchasing process. This is also a common strategy used in internet services with extremely high concurrent usage.

So why is there a need for traffic diversion? Here, Xiaomi refers to Baidu Index as a reference, stating that "each open purchase event has over a million participants," while posts in the Xiaomi community regarding open purchases reach over 1.5 million views, illustrating just how popular these events are.

Regarding the doubts about hunger marketing, Xiaomi responded that the current production capacity of Xiaomi Phone 3 is not very high, with a production volume of 300,000 units in the first half of October. Xiaomi is currently working hard to increase production, aiming to scale up to nearly a million units in November, which may result in around 200,000 Xiaomi Phone 3 units being available each week at that time.
