The cutting boards we commonly use are made of plastic or wood. With the widespread use of scratch-resistant glass on smart devices, it has become possible to chop vegetables directly on a tablet.

According to Engadget, an intern from Sharp UK designed the Chop-Syc. Essentially, this device is a tablet with built-in cooking software that allows users to view recipes, calculate ingredients, and learn cooking techniques. At the same time, due to its hard and scratch-resistant surface, the Chop-Syc can also serve as a chopping board.

The Chop-Syc is embedded in a wooden board and features wireless charging to prevent electric shocks caused by metal kitchen utensils. Currently, the device is still in the prototype stage, but Sharp has indicated that it may bring it to market.

Last month, Sony launched a kitchen version of the Xperia Tablet Z. This device comes with a portable stand and an iGrill Bluetooth meat thermometer, as well as multiple cooking and recipe apps worth $115.

The Xperia Tablet Z is waterproof and equipped with scratch-resistant glass, allowing users to chop ingredients while checking recipes without worrying about dirtying their beloved tablet. After use, the device can simply be rinsed with water. However, the Xperia Tablet Z cannot yet function as a chopping board.
