Samsung finally admitted its mistake

Accompanying the release of the Galaxy Note 3, Samsung surprisingly "region-locked" its phones. This means that not a few users will be unable to use their phones if they bring them to other countries. Upon hearing this news, users couldn't help but voice their complaints. Faced with criticism from the public, Samsung finally admitted their mistake.

Samsung stated that the reason for adding the "region lock" was to prevent stolen phones from being resold and used in other countries. However, given the backlash from users, Samsung had to take corrective actions.

The following is Samsung's statement:

We are committed to providing consumers with a smooth and comfortable user experience. For us, maintaining the relationship with our users is the top priority, and consumer feedback is at the core of what we do.

In fact, the original intention of the regional lock was to ensure that products could only circulate within the current country, preventing stolen phones from being sold to other countries for secondary use. Currently, we are conducting in-depth research to provide more reasonable solutions and optimize and simplify protection procedures for all consumers. Although I would like to address all the questions raised by consumers one by one, we still need time to further improve.

If consumers still have concerns about regional locking, they can visit customer service to find the answers they need.
