His implication was to attribute the swelling problem of Galaxy S4 batteries to Chinese manufacturers.
According to a report on October 18 by the Chinese version of Korea's *Asia Economy*, regarding the recent issues with Galaxy S4 batteries in Germany such as swelling, short battery life, etc., President Park Sang-jin of Samsung SDI, Samsung's cathode-ray tube production department located in China, stated during an interview on the 17th that the swollen batteries for the Galaxy S4 were produced in China.
It is understood that Samsung SDI is Samsung’s cathode-ray tube production department in China and currently also produces lithium-ion battery packs (battery pack). It is still unclear whether SDI is one of the suppliers of the swollen Galaxy S4 batteries. Samsung SDI has established four production plants in Tianjin, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Dongguan, which are currently the largest cathode-ray tube production bases in the world.
Last week, foreign media exposed that the batteries of Samsung Galaxy S4 in Europe, especially in Germany, frequently experienced swelling, short battery life, and overheating problems. In response, Samsung has already announced that some Galaxy S4 batteries indeed have problems, the company is investigating the cause, and will provide free replacements for users whose device batteries have issues.
However, according to the report by *Asia Economy*, President Park Sang-jin of Samsung SDI, Samsung's cathode-ray tube production department located in China, stated during an interview on the 17th that the swollen Galaxy S4 batteries were products made in China. His implication was to attribute the swelling problem of Galaxy S4 batteries to the substandard quality of Chinese manufacturers' products.
