According to a report on the evening of October 9th, Beijing time, Bloomberg's website reported on Wednesday that Apple is hiring a "carrier engineering manager" who is proficient in China Mobile's 3G and 4G networks, indicating that an iPhone sales agreement between Apple and China Mobile may not be far off.

This job advertisement was posted on Apple's Chinese website, where Apple stated that the position will be based in Beijing and will support and promote the approval of mobile phones by carriers. The advertisement specifically pointed out that this position requires a good understanding of China Mobile's TD-SCDMA and TD-LTE networks.

The advertisement also said: "This position will be responsible for the comprehensive management of all carrier technical interfaces in the Greater China region, including obtaining approvals for all Apple software and hardware, supporting carriers with new technologies, managing technical issues reported by carriers, tracking carrier roadmaps, and supporting high-level engineering meetings, etc."

China has 1.2 billion mobile phone users, and China Mobile accounts for 63% of them. Apple has already signed iPhone sales agreements with China Unicom and China Telecom but has yet to cooperate with China Mobile. Last month, informed sources claimed that Apple is close to signing a cooperation agreement with China Mobile.

In an email today, China Mobile said: "Regarding cooperation matters, China Mobile has been negotiating with Apple, and there is currently no related news to announce."

In the third fiscal quarter ending June 30th, China became Apple's third-largest revenue market after the United States and Europe. This year, Apple CEO Tim Cook has visited China at least twice. Cook also expressed that China will surpass the United States to become Apple's largest market. (By Ming Li)
