Latest survey data from the investment bank Piper Jaffray
Morning news on October 9th from Sina Mobile, foreign digital website macrumors reported that Apple's iPhone and iPad products are still very popular among teenagers. According to the latest survey by the investment bank Piper Jaffray, 55% of teenagers in the U.S. use iPhones.
Based on this table, last autumn this figure was 40%, it rose by 7% in spring (April) reaching 48%, now 55% of American teenagers use iPhones. Additionally, 65% of American teenagers said their next phone will be an iPhone, only 24% chose Android phones, and a mere 1% chose BlackBerry.
Regarding tablet data: currently 56% of teenagers own a tablet. Among them, 60% are iPads, which is lower than the 72% last autumn and 63% in spring, but still significantly higher than the 23% for Android tablets.
As for purchasing preferences, 52% of teenagers plan to buy a 10-inch iPad within the next six months, 12% will choose iPad mini, and 28% will choose Android tablets.
Although competitors like Samsung have tried to portray the iPhone as uncool and even a choice for middle-aged men, this survey result shows that Apple's products still hold an important place in the hearts of most American teenagers, whether it's smartphones or tablets. Moreover, nearly half of American teenagers haven't purchased a tablet yet. According to purchase intention surveys, Apple's future tablet market share will likely continue to grow. As for the iPhone, isn't the colorful iPhone 5c recently released aimed at young people?
