After the new generation of Microsoft and Sony game consoles were unveiled, many industry insiders joked that the Xbox One and PS4 are just like gaming PCs with custom-installed operating systems. According to the latest news revealed by foreign media, it seems that Microsoft is not opposed to the aforementioned viewpoint.
Larry Hyrb, the head of Microsoft's Xbox Live, has always enjoyed sharing information with the public. Recently, he mentioned in an interview with Newsegg Arcade that if Xbox One software developers want support for keyboards and mice, Microsoft will try its best to meet their needs.
"We have prepared a great SDK (Software Development Kit) for developers, which can achieve anything they desire. If this is really what the developers need, then we will certainly help them fulfill their wishes as much as possible. However, there are no specific details to share at this stage," Larry Hyrb said.
At the same time, Larry Hyrb emphasized that he was not trying to deliberately stir up disputes between PC gamers and console gamers. Instead, Microsoft has always aimed to provide players with the most comprehensive gaming experience. This experience is not limited to any one platform but rather intertwines across platforms. Just as players sometimes use the Xbox controller to play PC games, supporting keyboards and mice on the Xbox One also makes sense. However, the technical team’s main focus will still be on developing console functionalities.
Currently, the Xbox One is confirmed to launch simultaneously in 13 countries in Europe, America, and Latin America on November 22nd. For example, in the United States, the standard model bundled with the Kinect One motion-sensing device is priced at $499 (approximately 3060 RMB).
