Today I learned that many domestic and foreign registrars announced that ICANN will, starting from July 1, 2008, charge a certain fee for domain name deletions within the grace period (which generally lasts 3-5 days). It seems to indicate that ICANN is about to hold users accountable for irresponsible registration behavior; otherwise, why would domain deletion, originally a free service, now incur charges? In short, "if you do it, you must take full responsibility" — it's no longer acceptable to register domains with the mindset of "I'm just here for the soy sauce."
