IBM and STMicroelectronics plan to build a semiconductor plant in India

According to the evening news on September 13th, Beijing time, Kapil Sibal, India's Minister for Communications and Information Technology, stated on Friday that two enterprise alliances have proposed to establish semiconductor silicon wafer manufacturing plants in India.

One of these alliances is formed by IBM, India's Jaiprakash Associates, and Israel's Tower Jazz company, with a total investment scale of 263 billion rupees (approximately 4.142 billion USD).

The other alliance is formed by Hindustan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation, STMicroelectronics, and Silterra, with an investment scale of 252.5 billion rupees (approximately 3.977 billion USD). (By Ming Li)
