Although $5 million was raised within three days, the funding process for the Ubuntu phone has been very challenging, and the entire project faces the risk of being put on hold. In order to save itself, the Ubuntu Edge phone project team decided to reduce the price of the Ubuntu phone.

The Ubuntu Edge phone project raised $8.3 million in 15 days, but there is still a significant gap from the goal of raising $32 million. To achieve their target smoothly, Canonical, the developer of Ubuntu, has announced that the price of the Ubuntu phone will be reduced from $775 to $695.

As one of the most attractive features, the Ubuntu phone comes with a 4.5-inch 720p screen, multi-core processor, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage space, along with an 8-megapixel camera. The device will come pre-installed with the Ubuntu OS operating system and the Ubuntu Touch interface, and its design is quite distinctive, featuring a metallic exterior and a silicon anode battery for additional energy.

The Ubuntu phone sounds very cool, but if the fundraising fails, this phone will only remain as a legend. "If we don't reach our fundraising goal in the end, there will be no Ubuntu Edge," revealed Mark Shuttleworth, founder of Canonical, to the media.
