Samsung is in a dilemma: Tizen's progress slows down

The dream of challenging iOS and Android is great, but the reality is cruel. One system after another has tried to shake their dominant positions, but none have succeeded. They either remain on the sidelines or are abandoned. Samsung's latest Tizen hasn't been very smooth either, and there were rumors that it would be terminated.

The latest industry news suggests that Samsung has slowed down the development of Tizen. Although J.K. Shin, co-CEO of Samsung's IT and Mobile Communications Division, claimed that rumors about Samsung considering abandoning Tizen were baseless, sources insist that Samsung has postponed the development of Tizen.

For Samsung, developing its own operating system is a double-edged sword. On one hand, it requires a huge investment with no guarantee of being able to challenge Android; the sacrifice of bada serves as a warning. On the other hand, even if Tizen successfully rises, if Samsung heavily promotes its own system and reduces its use of Android, it will give other manufacturers an opportunity, such as LG, HTC, and Sony.

Therefore, sources say that Samsung will not rush into Tizen.

For Samsung, Android is both love and hate. This system already accounts for 80% of the global smartphone market, and its maturity and ecosystem far exceed other platforms. It has also permeated many of Samsung's product lines, including smartphones, tablets, digital cameras, and laptops. Even if Samsung really decides to abandon Android and switch to Tizen, it won't happen overnight.
