In a few days, it will be the Chinese traditional festival "Qixi". On the eve of this festival symbolizing unwavering love, it should be full of joy and romance. However, today we have to talk about the other side of love - divorce.
According to incomplete statistics from Xiangcheng District Court in Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province, in recent years, divorce cases have shown a two-way trend: more people born in the early 1960s and late 1980s are getting divorced, and post-90s divorce cases are beginning to appear. Early marriage, impulsive marriage, and lack of responsibility are the key reasons for the youthfulness of divorce cases. The following is one of many such cases.
Xiao Zhen and Lin Feng are a pair of post-85 young men and women. Last June, Xiao Zhen met Lin Feng, who worked at a state-owned enterprise, through her parents' introduction.
Three months later, Xiao Zhen and Lin Feng held a grand wedding banquet. That night after returning home, Lin Feng sat on the daybed by the window and scrolled through Weibo for over an hour. Exhausted from the wedding banquet, Xiao Zhen slept until dawn. Upon waking up, she discovered that her husband had been up brushing Weibo since before 8 o'clock.
At noon, the couple went to the in-laws' house for lunch. Lin Feng was glued to his phone the entire time, which led to an unpleasant ending, and they ended up sleeping separately that night.
On the third day, Xiao Zhen packed her clothes and returned to her parents' home, even canceling the wedding banquet scheduled for that evening at her parents' place and forfeiting an 8000 yuan deposit.
Afterwards, Xiao Zhen followed Lin Feng's Weibo account. To her astonishment, Lin Feng was updating his Weibo at 1:00 AM and 5:00 AM, even posting about taking a nap.
In March this year, unable to endure the torment of marriage, Xiao Zhen filed for divorce at the Xiangcheng District Court. Surprisingly, Lin Feng said, "Scrolling through Weibo makes me happy. If you want a divorce, so be it; I'll just find someone else who also loves scrolling through Weibo." Eventually, the two reached a mediated divorce.
Expert opinion: Marriage requires responsibility
Regarding the above case, Huang Zhili, deputy head of the Civil First Division of Xiangcheng District Court, said that the characteristics of post-80s divorces mainly include coldness towards each other, lack of concern, and even shifting attention away from each other due to other matters, such as scrolling through Weibo or playing games. "There should be proper communication, and showing care and warmth to your partner is essential," said Huang Zhili, hoping that post-80s families can have more patience, mutual tolerance and understanding, and better manage their households.
