Ever since the release of Google's new Nexus 7 tablet, many users have shifted their attention to the larger-sized new Nexus 10. According to the latest overseas news, Google will abandon its partnership with Samsung for the next generation of the Nexus 10 tablet, instead opting for Asus to manufacture it.

According to Russell Holly of the tech website Geek, insider information suggests that the next generation of the Nexus 10 tablet will be produced by Asus. Furthermore, he mentioned that the name of the new Nexus 10 tablet will remain unchanged.

Since last year, Google has already collaborated with Asus on two generations of the Nexus 7 tablet. Therefore, if they were to proceed with a third collaboration on the Nexus tablet series, it would make perfect sense. However, according to rumors previously circulating within the industry, the manufacturer for the 2013 version of the Nexus 10 tablet was still Samsung.

At the end of last month, Amir Efrati, a reporter from The Wall Street Journal, revealed on Twitter that Sundar Pichai, the head of Android and Chrome, had informed him that the next generation of the Nexus 10 was imminent and that the original equipment manufacturer would still be Samsung. Coincidentally, Samsung also showcased a tablet equipped with the Exynos 5420 around the same time, which was considered to be the prototype of the new generation of the Nexus 10.

Samsung collaborated with Google on the Nexus 10 tablet last year. Although it didn't sell as well as the Nexus 7, the Nexus 10 was originally positioned as a high-end product, so its sales were in line with expectations. Google shouldn't replace Samsung simply because the Nexus 10 didn't sell as explosively as the Nexus 7. On the other hand, after latching onto the Nexus tablet bandwagon, manufacturers' own-brand Android tablets also gain considerable competitiveness, which is something the Galaxy Tab desperately needs. Samsung wouldn't easily give up the opportunity to produce the Nexus 10.

As to who will ultimately secure the production rights for the new generation of the Nexus 10, both sides currently only offer one-sided statements. Neither Google, Asus, nor Samsung, as the parties involved, have made any public comments. The previous 10-inch Nexus tablet was released in mid-November of last year. As for this year's model, we can only wait for further news regarding who will be responsible for its production.
