August 10th, Beijing Time - According to foreign media reports, Charlie Gasparino of Fox Business News revealed that the Apple board has started to express concerns about the company's product pipeline.
Gasparino said: "My sources in this area are very reliable. The information I have is that the current board of Apple has realized that Apple needs to do some work on its future product pipeline and also consider specific measures for the future in this regard. In addition, whether these measures are sufficiently innovative and whether Tim Cook is a CEO with enough creative ability are issues that worry the Apple board."
Gasparino also stated: "The Apple board is now concerned about what exactly is in the company's product pipeline, are there correct products? Are there innovative products and content in the pipeline? Do they have products that can sustain the momentum Steve Jobs initiated at Apple?"
Gasparino further disclosed that the Apple board did not discuss firing Cook. From the current situation, it seems there is no indication that the board intends to dismiss Cook. At least not currently.
Regardless of the board's current attitude towards Cook, the fact remains that the Apple board does indeed have concerns. These concerns include the usual worries as well as concerns about the company’s future products, especially since Apple hasn’t launched any new products so far this year. Moreover, Apple's stock price has plummeted by 35% from its historic high.
Apple may have already mapped out a product roadmap for the next two years, including some new products. However, if these new products fail to be released, the board's concerns will become even more severe.
