On the morning of August 10th, Beijing time, it was reported that Amazon recently reduced the price of the 7-inch Kindle Fire HD tablet by $40 to $160, possibly paving the way for a new generation of products.

Given that Amazon has launched a new tablet every September over the past two years, this move is not surprising. The company may be looking to clear out inventory before the release of its next product.

Although the discount is tempting, many users will likely still wait for the upgraded version, as it will probably come with much newer hardware. For example, the processor in the current Kindle Fire HD is already outdated, so the new model will almost certainly feature a faster processor. This would be a great benefit for users who frequently watch high-definition videos.

The screen on the Kindle Fire HD is good, but the next generation could potentially have an even better one. After all, Google's new Nexus 7 also underwent a screen upgrade, and it remains one of the Kindle Fire's biggest competitors apart from the iPad mini. The pixel density of the Nexus 7's screen reaches 323ppi, while the current Kindle Fire HD only has 216ppi. A higher pixel density screen would provide a better experience for reading text and magazines.

However, if you're simply browsing the web or playing casual games, the older Kindle Fire at its discounted price could be an excellent choice. (Si Yuan)
