Game Informer reported on insiders’ information that Amazon is developing an Android-based gaming console, which is expected to be released by the end of this year. Compared with Ouya, another Android-based gaming console, Amazon has a big advantage in that it can take advantage of its app store with a large number of apps.
In the past few years, Amazon has been constantly exploring areas beyond online retailing and has got involved in hardware manufacturing and TV show production. Thus, its entry into the gaming console industry does not come as a surprise.
