Windows 8 Tablets
The date when Microsoft will stop supporting Windows XP is drawing near. To ensure a smooth transition between old and new operating systems, Microsoft Japan will assist a major Japanese insurance company in replacing 30,000 Windows XP desktop computers with Windows 8 tablets.
This Japanese insurance company is named Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company, one of the largest insurance companies in Japan. Microsoft announced on Wednesday that Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company will collaborate with Microsoft Japan and Fujitsu to replace the Windows XP desktops used by its 30,000 insurance sales employees with Windows 8 tablets.
Windows XP is one of the most popular operating systems globally, and Microsoft has set the end of support for this system on April 8, 2014.
“In the past, the sales team would design policies on their Windows XP computers, print them out, and then discuss them with clients,” Microsoft explained. Windows 8 aims to put an end to this traditional method. The customized Windows 8 tablets created by Fujitsu for the insurance company will allow salespeople to design personalized policies for specific clients directly on mobile devices and engage with them directly.
Microsoft claims that Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company is the first life insurance company in Japan to adopt the Windows 8 Pro operating system.
