On August 9th, WeChat version 5.0 was officially released on the Android platform in the afternoon. Users can download the latest version of the WeChat app from the首发platform Yingyongbao. A new wave of "Plane Fighting" fever initiated by Android users may be set to begin again.
In comparison to the functions introduced with the earlier release of the iPhone version, including the Game Center and more comprehensive "Scan" features, the Android version offers some new experiences in certain functions:
1. Official WeChat accounts can be added to the desktop
Leveraging the characteristics of the Android system, users can directly add icons of official WeChat accounts they follow to their desktops. This allows them to access these official WeChat accounts directly from the desktop without having to open the WeChat app first.
2. More application scenarios for WeChat Pay
Compared to iPhone users who currently can only experience WeChat Pay through official accounts or by scanning QR codes on YiXun's website, Android users can use WeChat Pay when purchasing paid emoticons. Additionally, WeChat Pay is also available as a payment option for in-game item purchases within the Game Center.
Currently, several official accounts have integrated the WeChat Pay function, including McDonald's and QQ Top-up. Notably, some subscription-based reading accounts can also use WeChat Pay to recharge membership fees, such as the Nanpai Sanshu official account.
3. Differences in WeChat Pay user experience
When Android users enter their WeChat Pay password, they will see their personal avatar, which differs from the iPhone version. The personal avatar serves as a security watermark, enhancing the safety of payments.
This time, Yingyongbao, as the exclusive launch platform for WeChat 5.0, will continue for three days. It will then be subsequently released on other platforms.
