In order to attract more app developers, Microsoft has recently launched a new app development incentive program. Microsoft promises to exchange points for Windows 8, Xbox games, and other items for developers.
Microsoft's incentive measure aims to attract more developers to create more apps for Windows 8 and Windows Phone.
Under the new incentive program, developers will earn a certain number of points by completing specific tasks, such as building applications, participating in activities, publishing apps to the Windows Store and the Windows Phone Store. In return, these points can be exchanged for tangible items, such as a legitimate copy of Windows 8, an Xbox game, or a Windows Store developer account.
For example, joining Microsoft's "App Builder Program" will get you 1000 points, while replying to the Microsoft Developer Twitter account will earn you 100 points. However, upgrading to Windows 8 Pro will cost you 7500 points, and obtaining the Xbox 360 game Halo 4 will require 4500 points.
Microsoft has realized that applications are a key factor affecting the growth and success of a mobile platform. Therefore, it has adopted tangible incentive measures to attract more developers to join the Windows camp for app development.
In March this year, Microsoft first introduced the App Builder Rewards program. Before June 30th, developers could receive $100 for each new app published in the Windows App Store, with a maximum reward of $2000 per developer. Later, there were rumors that to attract more developers to create apps for the Windows Phone system, Microsoft might offer up to $100,000 in rewards.
However, such incentive measures may lead to new problems: after the incentives were introduced, the quantity of Windows apps increased, but quality cannot be guaranteed. Undoubtedly, all app stores face such dilemmas. In the long term, what attracts users is not the quantity of apps, but valuable and appealing applications.
