Microsoft's SkyDrive announced on its official Twitter account on Wednesday that MobileMe users could receive 15GB of free SkyDrive storage space simply by forwarding Apple's notification email to a designated email address.
Last week, Apple sent an email to users still using the MobileMe service, reminding them that their current free iCloud storage would expire on September 30th, after which they would only be able to use the same 5GB of free storage available to new users.
Microsoft wrote on the official SkyDrive Twitter account: "Apple has canceled your extra MobileMe storage? Just forward Apple's notification email to [email protected] and you will receive 15GB of SkyDrive storage valid for 1 year."
However, it remains unclear whether Microsoft's move will attract loyal Apple users. Typically, SkyDrive offers only 7GB of free online storage, while competitor Dropbox offers only 2GB. Therefore, even without the additional 15GB capacity, this service seems quite attractive. The issue is that SkyDrive has set a one-year limit, which might discourage some MobileMe users.
