Global PC Market Q2: Apple's shipments down 11%, Samsung's up 106%

On August 7, according to foreign media reports, third-party research institute Canalys released the second quarter global PC (including desktops, laptops, tablets) market data showing that in the second quarter, Apple's PC shipments were 18,631,330 units, ranking first, with a year-on-year decrease of 11.5%. Samsung's PC shipments achieved a year-on-year growth of 106.2%, ranking fourth.

According to Canalys data, in the second quarter of this year, the total PC shipments in the global PC market were 109,007,450 units, with a year-on-year increase of 0.3%, compared to 108,708,770 units last year during the same period. Among them, Apple's PC shipments were 18,631,330 units, with a year-on-year decrease of 11.5% and a market share of 17.1%; last year's shipments were 21,061,430 units, with a market share of 19.4%. Canalys stated that although Apple's PC share declined, it still captured most of the tablet industry's profits.

In the second quarter, Lenovo's PC shipments were 14,114,820 units, with a year-on-year increase of 7.3% and a market share of 12.9%; last year's PC shipments were 13,154,560 units, with a market share of 12.1%. Canalys noted that Lenovo achieved market share growth in three fields: desktops, laptops, and tablets this quarter. Specifically, Lenovo's tablet business continued to expand in mainland China and Latin America.

In the second quarter, HP's PC shipments were 12,697,680 units, with a year-on-year decrease of 6.3% and a market share of 11.6%; last year's PC shipments were 13,554,340 units, with a market share of 12.5%. Samsung's PC shipments were 10,818,920 units, with a year-on-year increase of 106.2% and a market share of 9.9%; last year's PC shipments were 5,246,360 units, with a market share of 4.8%. Dell's PC shipments were 9,454,770 units, with a year-on-year decrease of 2.0% and a market share of 8.7%; last year's PC shipments were 9,652,310 units, with a market share of 8.9%.
