Google announced today the launch of Group Publishing services for its Chrome Web Store. Simply put, this service allows multiple users to collaboratively manage a single content publisher account.

Prior to this, the Chrome Web Store could only be logged into using a single, pre-bound email address, making it extremely difficult for multiple people to share one account for content management. Therefore, Google's goal in launching the Group Publishing service is to simplify the process for multiple content publishers managing the same institutional store account.

Now, enterprises and organizations can first create a Google Group account, set themselves as the owner of the Google Group, and designate or remove other users' permissions to manage account content. During the setup process, users need to go to the developer settings page and use the Group Publishing service by clicking on a link or associating an existing institutional account. Once they become members of the shared Google Group account, users can edit, add, or remove content within the account. Moreover, regardless of whether the user owns apps, extensions, plugins, or themes in the Chrome Web Store, they can still use this functionality.

Wei Zheng, a Google software engineer, told reporters: "Many institutions have a great deal of content and updates that need to be managed, such as needing testers to test their published content, regularly changing promotional images and taglines within applications, etc. With the Group Publishing service, engineering, marketing, and product managers from enterprises and institutions can more effectively collaborate in managing the content they publish in the Chrome Web Store."
