China Wanwang launched the pre-registration service for ".me" domain names.

The global official registration of the ".me" domain name will open at 23:00 Beijing Time on July 17, 2008. At that time, anyone will be able to register on a first-come, first-served basis. To facilitate domestic users' registration, after summarizing its successful experience in pre-registration services for new domains such as ".mobi" and ".asia," China Domain Name Registry also launched a pre-registration service before the official opening of ".me" registrations. From July 3 to July 16, users can submit their ".me" domain pre-registrations. The submitted information will be saved by China Domain Name Registry, and once the official registration opens, China Domain Name Registry will submit users' registration information to the international registrar as soon as possible.

The pre-registration price for ".me" domains launched by China Domain Name Registry is 320 RMB/year, with an initial registration period of at least two years. ".me" domains only support English letters, numbers, and combinations thereof, including letters a-z, numbers 0-9, and "-" (i.e., hyphen), but hyphens cannot appear at the beginning or end. The length of ".me" domain registrations must be between 3 and 63 characters.
