Google patent: Launches specific apps through pattern unlock
Those who have used Android devices should be familiar with pattern unlock. Although this method is secure, it comes at the cost of sacrificing shortcut functions on the lock screen. So, is there a way to enjoy both security and convenience? A newly acquired patent from Google might offer a solution. Their approach is quite simple: add personalized settings to the existing pattern unlock system by associating different unlock patterns with different apps (for example, drawing a diagonal line could open the dialer interface). This idea seems feasible, though it may take some time to memorize the various combinations. Currently, there's no sign of such functionality in Android 4.3, but will it make an appearance in the next version?
