Google has recently announced a new API that allows you to access real-time analytics data from Google Analytics within your application or client. This means you can display in your app how many people are currently using it, what content they're reading, and more.
Google Analytics' real-time analytics feature was launched by Google in 2011. The feature primarily shows the current user activity on a website, such as the number of active visitors, the web pages they're browsing, their geographical location, and the source of traffic.
The image below shows the current number of users displayed in an Android smartwatch application.
A broader use case is analyzing which sections of your website are more popular, or receiving notifications when there's a significant increase or decrease in website visitors.
Additionally, by combining Google Analytics SuperProxy with the Real-Time API and Google Charts API, it allows users to access your published query data without authentication. You can also create a widget using JavaScript and add it to your website.
Currently, this API is in the testing phase, and you can register for its use by filling out this form.
