Google is set to introduce several touch-friendly features in the latest beta version of Chrome. For instance, users will be able to navigate web pages through swiping; they can view their browsing history by swiping left or right. Additionally, a pinch-to-zoom feature will allow users to zoom in and out by moving two fingers on the screen. This functionality is quite similar to that of IE10 on Windows 8.

With the launch of Google's touchscreen laptop, Chrombook Pixel, and a range of Windows 8 devices, Google has increasingly focused on developing touch capabilities within Chrome. This is the primary reason driving the addition of touch support in Chrome, and we can expect more touchscreen features to come in the future. On Windows 8 systems, when users click on the address bar or a text box, Google Chrome will also support the touchscreen keyboard.

The Google Chrome browser has always been renowned for its speed, but it has often been regarded as a browser with fewer built-in features (if Chrome plugins are not considered). However, Google is now introducing more and more touch-friendly functions into Chrome to improve user experience through active changes and innovations.

Meanwhile, the browser wars have been ongoing for years, and even minor changes can significantly impact the market. Looking at the browser market share over the past few months, Chrome has seen a recovery from a slump and continues to progress. Could this latest version of Chrome give you one more reason to abandon Internet Explorer?
