A fruit of two halves: Greengrocer discovers apple that's perfectly split by red and yellow sides
When he saw this strange two-tone apple, grocer Wayne Ames was stunned. This magical fruit is perfectly divided into red and yellow halves by a fine line. Mr. Ames, aged 41, runs Southsea Fruit and Veg in Portsmouth, Hampshire. He said he had never encountered such a situation in the eight years.
"Oh my! Grocer Wayne Ames said he had never seen a two-tone apple so perfectly divided."
A married father of two children said: "It's like two apples of different colors combined. For some reason, the two halves of the apple are completely different colors. All visitors were shocked by this apple."
Ames plans to preserve this 125-gram apple. If it weren't for its color that saved it, this small apple would have been worth only 35 pence. This apple has successfully turned things around.
Red-yellow lady: This apple, originally a red variety, looks as if only half of it is ripe.
He added: "This is unique. My job lets me see many funny-shaped potatoes, but in eight years of working with fruits, I've never seen anything like this before. Someone suggested to me that I should use some preservatives to keep it."
