Finally, the Firefox operating system begins its global offensive. Everyone is now familiar with Mozilla's mobile operating system, which runs web apps written using web technologies such as HTML5 and JavaScript. Just last month, the first smartphone equipped with Mozilla's open-source operating system was launched in some areas of Europe, and today, it has also reached the Latin American market, with Firefox OS phones available for purchase in Colombia and Venezuela.

Similarly, by the end of this year, Brazilians will also have the opportunity to buy a Firefox OS device.

In July, Spanish wireless carrier Telefonica began selling two Firefox OS phones locally, and recently, the carrier announced that they will expand the Firefox phone market to Latin America.

The two phones offered by the company are consistent with those provided in other markets, namely the Alcatel OneTouch Fire and ZTE Open.

Both phones are entry-level devices with relatively basic specifications, which is why they only cost about $100 (approximately 612 RMB). There is also an option to purchase them under contract for around $50, but this requires signing a 12-month service contract.

The specifications of these two phones are basically the same: both feature a 1GHz central processor, a 3.5-inch display with a resolution of 480x320 pixels, 256MB RAM, 512MB available storage space, a micro SD card slot, and a 3.2-megapixel rear camera.

Although the Firefox operating system can run on higher-end hardware, its original design purpose is to support low-cost devices. Therefore, even with such basic configurations, these phones still perform responsively.
