Social networking company Facebook has announced that it will spend more than one million US dollars for 329 security experts, including in the bug bounty program launched two years ago.

According to the company, these experts come from 51 different countries, with Americans accounting for 20% of the program.

The top five countries are the United States, India, the United Kingdom, Turkey, and Germany; therefore, security experts from these countries will receive the largest share of rewards.

Regarding this program, Facebook claims it has achieved immeasurable success. Prior to this, the company employed two full-time security experts, including within its security team.

On one hand, Colin Green, a security engineer at Facebook, stated in the announcement that this early initiative is encouraging because similar programs have a significant impact on whether Facebook can ensure security.

Green pointed out that despite the large expenditure, how much the company spends on investing in security does not matter. He emphasized that Facebook cannot get all talented individuals to join its security team in this field, but it will use every method to make its system complex and difficult to breach.

Green stated that the award allows the company to utilize talent from various backgrounds and all nations.

It is worth noting that Facebook awarded a British security researcher 200,000 pounds last June for discovering a vulnerability that allowed accounts to be compromised via text messages.

Meanwhile, the company announced last Thursday (August 1) an improvement in payment security capabilities and will provide all users with the HTTPS network security protocol.
