Recently, Sina Weibo has upgraded its SDK and optimized the SSO (Single Sign-On) login method. With just one login authorization, users can log in to third-party applications and websites directly using their Sina Weibo account, without needing to repeatedly set up account passwords. The new version of the SDK verifies application identity through package names and signatures, enhancing security levels.
Through the new SDK, third-party applications can directly call the posting interface of the official Sina Weibo client when sharing content to Weibo, then return directly to the third-party application after sharing is complete. To ensure normal sharing needs for users who haven't installed the official client, the previous method of third-party calls to the post interface will continue to coexist.
The new version of the SDK also sees significant improvements in sharing. Unlike the past "text + picture" Weibo format, shares via the new SDK will be presented in a Card format. Below the original "text + picture," there will be a small card, similar to current "media Weibos" and the upcoming "Taobao Weibo," where links are parsed into a Card.
In existing official Weibo clients, users can add topics, books, music, and applications while posting Weibos. However, previously only Sina-recommended applications were supported. After upgrading the SDK, the "add application" feature will also be open to third-party applications. Third-party applications can be added to the attachment bar on the post page, supporting quick launches of third-party applications and enabling content sharing.
It is understood that eight mobile applications have already been upgraded in the initial phase, including NetEase News Client and Tmall. The integration of third-party Cards is still being gradually promoted. The new version of the SDK currently supports both iPhone and Android versions, with the iPad version still in the planning stage. Next, Weibo will achieve simultaneous access of Cards on both mobile and PC ends.
