Windows 8 adoption surpasses Vista, Firefox continues to decline

In July 2013, the penetration of Windows 8 finally surpassed Vista. Firefox's market share in the browser market continued to decline, and the gap between Firefox and Chrome was gradually narrowing. According to Net Market statistics, in the operating system market, Windows 8 accounted for 5.4%, surpassing Vista's 4.24%. The changes in the shares of Windows 7 and XP were still very small, at 44.49% and 37.19%, respectively.

In the browser market, Firefox dropped by 0.86 percentage points to 18.29%, while Chrome increased by 0.59 percentage points to 17.76%. Internet Explorer increased by 0.46 percentage points to 56.61%. IE8 remained the most popular browser with a share of 23.52%, followed by IE10 at 15.36%. IE6 still had a significant presence at 6.10% and remained the seventh most popular browser.
