When Android phones receive spam messages, users can block them using software like 360. When iPhones receive iMessage spam advertisements, besides turning off the iMessage function, users can now also file a complaint to Apple.
In order to address the rampant spam in iMessages, Apple has recently introduced a spam reporting feature that allows users to send emails directly to [email protected] for reporting. Users can take screenshots of the spam messages they have received and send them via email to the above-mentioned address. Apple stated that the screenshot should include the email or phone number from which the spam iMessage was sent, as well as the time and date.
It is understood that previously, due to the fact that iMessage was free and difficult to block, many advertisers took advantage of it to send a large amount of advertisements to iPhone users, and almost all iPhone users had been harassed by iMessage spam. Overseas, iMessage spam not only affects user experience but also brings security risks. There was once an incident where hackers exploited its vulnerabilities to design an AppleScript script to send high-frequency messages to users, eventually causing system crashes and leading to complaints from users.
However, regarding the effectiveness of this reporting system, many users expressed little confidence. Some users suggested that with so much spam, if Apple were serious about dealing with it, they might need to set up an operation center within the country. Other users questioned whether Apple would be able to understand Chinese spam advertisements.
