After launching a series of anti-Google ad campaigns last year, Microsoft has recently come up with another tactic by releasing an app targeting the Android platform named "SwitchtoWindowsPhone" (Switch to Windows Phone).According to CITEworld, Microsoft developed this app to help find equivalent Windows Phone 8 (WP8) apps that can replace users' Android apps. The way it works is by sending information about the Android apps installed on the user's device to Microsoft's SkyDrive cloud storage service and then searching for identical or similar WP8 apps.Guru Gowrappan, Executive Vice President of Product at app search engine Quixey, told CITEworld that Microsoft is leveraging Quixey's technology to find WP8 alternatives for Android users. It was reported that Microsoft would launch the app today, but as of now, we cannot find it on Google Play. Additionally, there is currently no iOS version of this app available. This isn't the first time Microsoft has attacked Google's smartphone platform. In December last year, Microsoft mocked Android on Twitter using the hashtag #Age. The company asked Twitter users to share horror stories about malware on Android devices. However, Microsoft's move seemed to backfire, as many users began criticizing Windows Phone instead.Microsoft team, wouldn't it be better to focus these efforts on improving your own WP platform?Joe Belfiore, manager of Microsoft's WP team, boasts about WP apps.
