Wearable computing devices are currently all the rage. Google Glass, priced at $1500, is still only available to a select group of developers. Additionally, there are reports that Apple, Samsung, LG, and Microsoft all have plans to launch smartwatches.Microsoft's Chief Research Officer, Rick Rashid, introduced Microsoft's plans for future tech products, including a smartwatch. Rashid mentioned that Microsoft has been developing smartwatches for some time now. One issue we encountered when developing smartwatches in the early 2000s was that many potential users in the target market simply didn't wear watches.Earlier this week, it was reported that the Xbox team had received prototype smartwatches for testing. Regardless, it seems unlikely that a Microsoft smartwatch will be released in the near future, but some of Microsoft's other revolutionary technologies are just around the corner. The Microsoft Research team has completed the development of an emotion detection system and conducted market research. This system can analyze a person's emotional or mental state through their tone of voice and facial expressions. Rashid stated that they plan to develop more emotion-related technologies, such as robots, because current software and hardware have become more advanced.Senior Microsoft researcher Desney Tan recently developed a contact lens that can measure a person's organ health, such as blood pressure. Besides medical applications, this technology can also be used in other fields, like image display. Amazingly, this lens is powered by human body heat, so it doesn't need charging. At the end of last year, Rashid demonstrated Microsoft's latest speech recognition translation technology in our country. It can accurately recognize what you say, translate it into the desired language, and then speak it using your accent, making it sound as if you were speaking directly. The accuracy rate of this technology is as high as 93%, comparable to professional translators (whose accuracy is approximately 97%-98%). This technology has also made breakthrough progress and related products will soon be launched globally.Rick Rashid
