Early Stage of Entrepreneurship: Harnessing the Wisdom of Open Source Software

Commentary: I've noticed some commentators who don't approve, or even look down upon, the commercial use of open source software. I strongly disagree with these people's viewpoints. Why shouldn't open source software be commercially utilized? Take Feiyang as an example; frankly speaking, I believe that no one in China can utilize open source software better or knows how to integrate existing resources more effectively than him. Technology is a crucial foundation, and I always believe that the product comes first. However, the issue is that entrepreneurs are constrained by their own resources and often cannot fully unleash their potential. They can paint beautiful product blueprints, but how and when to realize these blueprints is another matter. Feiyang pointed out one important aspect: "timing." I think this is very accurate. The early failure of Beike was due to the lack of entrepreneurial development timing. By utilizing mature open source products for quick launch and relying on strong initial operations to accumulate user resources, then producing corresponding products according to development needs, this is the mindset that an entrepreneur should have. Users do not care what software you use. A product that brings tangible value to users is the ultimate goal, regardless of whether it is open source or not. 5GSNS uses UH, while Hainei is self-developed, but does it make a difference in the eyes of industry users?

It's worth mentioning that Kangsheng provides conditions for many entrepreneurs like Feiyang. I've said before that using Kangsheng's products can form distributed communities and easily connect with business. For many webmasters, the integration of vertical field SNS and business is a good way out. Of course, Kangsheng only provides a basic foundation for a modest living. If you want to become rich, you need to plan for the long term.

SNS and Entertainment

Commentary: Every word from KESO is classic. When Kaixin was first launched, it caused quite a stir. The innovative approach of entertainment SNS was loved by the early users, making it seem very promising. But perhaps due to the initial prosperity, many people were misled into thinking that entertainment SNS had a bright future in China. Personally, I believe that in China's internet landscape, entertainment still reigns supreme. However, this kind of entertainment is not at the application level but at the content level. Mopu's entertainment-oriented products are very popular, and you can see that they revolve around content. Compared to sending a KISS on Kaixin, Chinese people prefer gossip and casual conversation.

Of course, with the improvement of domestic internet user quality and the maturity of the overall environment, Kaixin's path of entertainment SNS is not entirely unfeasible. White-collar workers particularly enjoy Kaixin's laid-back gameplay. However, this poses a significant challenge to Kaixin's continuous innovation capabilities. These entertainments are not fundamental applications, so after prolonged use, users may develop laziness (Kaixin is no longer as explosively popular as it initially was). To maintain user participation enthusiasm, Kaixin needs to continuously develop new applications to meet user demands. Kaixin can open up its APP platform, but the problem is that the domestic environment is poor, and there aren't enough people helping Kaixin develop new applications together, which increases Kaixin's pressure significantly. Kaixin's SNS skips the explicit user interaction layer and directly elevates implicit application-based entertainment to the mainstream level, which is an unhealthy development. Thus, Kaixin is clearly walking on the edge of a cliff.
