China's budding animation industry faces a new "bottleneck" - Xinhua News Agency, Harbin, May 8th (reported by Ni Qi): "Domestically produced animated series now produce about 100,000 minutes of content per year, offering a much wider selection than before," said Ni Hong, director of the Children's Channel at Heilongjiang TV. In the past, she and her colleagues often went to great lengths to find quality domestic animated shows for young viewers.
Since May 1st, 2008, the State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television has stipulated that no channels on any level may air foreign animated series, information programs introducing foreign animated series, or segments showcasing foreign animated series during the time slot from 5 PM to 9 PM, extending the previous restriction which was from 5 PM to 8 PM.
