According to foreign media reports, Steve Jobs, the CEO of Apple, recently confirmed in an interview that Apple will independently develop the chips used in the next generation of iPhone smartphones and iPod music players, in order to strengthen the market competitiveness of these two products. Jobs first delivered a keynote speech at the "Apple Worldwide Developers Conference" (WWDC) on Monday, and then was interviewed by John Markoff, a reporter for The New York Times. During the interview, he stated that Apple had previously acquired the chip designer P.A. Semi, with the aim of independently developing the chips for the next generation of iPhones and iPods.
