Wikia Search is a social search engine created by Jimmy Wales, one of the founders of Wikipedia and honorary chairman of the WikiMedia Foundation. Its concept inherits the core principle of Wikipedia: everyone can freely edit the search results. The industry had high expectations for such a search engine. However, the Alpha test site launched by Wikia Search at the beginning of this year received a lot of criticism. Not only were the search results very inaccurate, but also the highlight feature it initially promised - "free editing" - was hardly demonstrated at all. Yesterday, Wikia Search ended its Beta internal testing and officially launched its public version. Fortunately, many of the previous shortcomings of Wikia Search have been significantly improved.
