Software update causes shutdown of US nuclear plant

At the Hatch nuclear plant near Baxley, Ga., engineers rebooted a computer that had been connected to the business network after loading new software, causing the plant to shut down for 48 hours. The Washington Post reported that the March 7 incident involved a computer suspected of monitoring chemical and diagnostic data from the plant's main control system. The updated software was intended to synchronize data between the two systems.
