According to the requirements of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT), since May 1st, the ban on overseas cartoons has been extended by one hour from the original time; the time has been changed from 17:00-20:00 to 17:00-21:00. As early as August 2006, SARFT proposed regulations that starting September 1st of that year, all channels of television stations at all levels nationwide were prohibited from airing foreign animation shows, information programs about foreign animations, and segments showcasing foreign animations during prime time.
Indeed, the "ban order" on overseas animations has become a powerful driving force for the rapid development of the domestic animation industry in recent years. According to the "Notice on the Publicity of the Record-filing of Domestic TV Animation Production Nationwide in April 2008" issued by SARFT, in just the month of April this year, there were 45 registered domestic TV animation series with a total duration of 42,564 minutes, exceeding 40% of last year's total production volume.
