On the morning of May 18, special operations firefighters brought search and rescue dogs to search for possibly still alive trapped civilians in the ruins of Beichuan county. Reporter He Jian took this photo.
Since the beginning of the earthquake relief effort, they have been in people's sights. Their workplace is in the collapsed ruins, using their sensitive noses to capture the faintest breaths of life - they are the search and rescue dogs, respectfully called by netizens as "the angels who do not speak"! Following the Wenchuan earthquake, the National Earthquake Bureau Emergency Rescue Center dispatched a total of 12 senior-level search and rescue dogs. In Yingxiu alone, they helped find 17 trapped individuals who had been buried under the rubble for over three days. The successful rescues of the last two trapped individuals in Yingxiu town, Yu JinHua and Ma YuanJiang, were largely credited to the efforts of these search and rescue dogs.
