I highly recommend this little machine etc. It's easy to use and quick to produce good results definitely, especially when compared to hand knitting. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that I think there should be more ideas for projects and photos using other yarns, including with the knitting machine. I usually knit by hand and bought this just for fun because I was curious. After Christmas, I spent a little time setting it up without any trouble. You just need to read the instructions very carefully and study its illustrations. That's all you need.
This is a great confidence builder because of what it can do in a shorter amount of time; she could wear what she made. Adding eyelash yarn makes it very forgiving of any human errors or defects. I did not first form the yarn into balls (as suggested in the guide). The yarn was already formed into pull skeins and fed smoothly, so I just pulled out the yardage as I knitted.
Not a single stitch dropped. You need to occasionally sit and gently untangle, unraveling what you've knitted. I took the scarf off the machine by hand and finished it using double-pointed needles (instead of the method described in the instructions), because I knew the method and wanted to finish the scarf as time was getting late. Next time I'll try the method described.
My biggest tip to share is to work slowly, so you can see as the machine picks up each stitch. There were a few times the yarn didn't catch, but all you have to do is put the yarn into the hook; simple as that. I expected more if it were a professional machine, but it isn't. The knitting machine is made of plastic and won't last forever, but hey, for a child's toy, it's a great price.
This absolutely rates as a "10" on the Christmas gift list. My daughter, who isn't very skilled, could knit a tube scarf in less than an hour. There were some stitches that dropped, but I think it's due to user error or oversight rather than from the machine.
My daughter then followed the instructions word-for-word (the directions are very clear and easy to understand), and she had no problems setting it up. We had a small challenge with the flat panel, but again, I think it's because my daughter needed a big break and didn't remember if she was supposed to rotate clockwise or counterclockwise.
[www.st-xj.com] Within just a few minutes, I was knitting further! I found this eyelash yarn (included) works very well, and I look forward to trying other types (the instructions even suggest using smooth yarn, not too thick). I made a beautiful scarf in a tube in no more than 30 minutes. The key is to keep turning the handle slowly and steadily and ensure the yarn is pulled out from the ball smoothly. When you change colors or add another ball of yarn, help the knot through the tension device by pulling it tight, otherwise it may get tangled.
