On April 17, at the invitation of "Study in Canada", Sarah Li, the Asian admissions officer of Western University (formerly known as The University of Western Ontario), will be a guest on "Study in Canada" to release admission information for the 2011-2012 academic year and conduct on-site admissions for qualified students.
Western University, established in 1878, is one of Canada's oldest comprehensive top-tier institutions, often referred to as Canada's "Harvard". The university offers a wide range of disciplines with over 400 different majors, known for its well-designed curriculum and high prestige. It is a member of the G13 Canadian research universities and has consistently ranked in the top five in Maclean's magazine annual university rankings for medical-doctoral categories for 16 years. It has achieved remarkable success in business, medicine, and humanities, with its business management program ranking first in all of Canada.
For current senior high school students, those with a GPA of 83 over three years of high school, an IELTS score of 7 or a TOEFL IBT score of 93, and good results in the provincial graduation exams can apply for direct undergraduate admission.
For students without language test scores or with lower scores, Western University offers a "language + undergraduate" dual admission program.
It is understood that Huron University College, King's University College, and Brescia University College of Western University were among the first to open the "language + undergraduate" dual admission program to Chinese students. Starting July 2009, the main campus of Western University also opened dual admission to Chinese students, thus opening the door wider for more Chinese students to enter this top university.
