With the strengthening of people's environmental awareness and the gradual maturity of the Chinese coatings market, water-based coatings have gained widespread use. Among all water-based coatings, the topic of water-based wood coatings is particularly hot. As more and more consumers raise their standards for environmental requirements in furniture products and the government continues to introduce low-carbon emission reduction policies, furniture manufacturers are becoming increasingly aware of the urgency and importance of using water-based coatings. However, facing the continuously expanding domestic market space and the current situation of a wide variety of water-based wood coatings brands with mixed quality, how to choose the right water-based coating has become a concern for furniture manufacturers and other users of water-based wood coatings. Through this on-site competition, major coating manufacturers will use the 2012 Shanghai Coatings Exhibition, the largest global display window in the coatings industry, to showcase high-quality water-based wood coatings and comprehensive integrated furniture coating solutions, demonstrating the latest technological progress and environmental advantages of water-based coatings to upstream users, thereby enhancing the application confidence of the furniture industry.

It is understood that the theme of this competition is [Water-Based World ? Environmental Sustainability]. The competition site will simulate the coating processing environment of an ordinary furniture factory, with only an additional complex drying room added. The aim is to achieve a coating effect and appearance comparable to solvent-based wood coatings under similar internal conditions, thereby enhancing the industry confidence of furniture manufacturers in using water-based wood coatings, while comprehensively promoting excellent water-based wood coatings and their integrated coating solutions, making low-carbon environmental protection a reality.

In terms of the competition process, participating units must first submit a [Cost-Performance Status Application Form] and obtain participation qualifications after review by the organizing committee. At the competition site, each participating unit will refer to the sample provided by the host and, following a closed coating process, apply water-based wood coatings to three pre-processed wooden boards of the same material and specifications within a designated time frame. After the coating is completed, the first board will be scored on-site by representatives from a hundred furniture merchants invited by the Home Furnishings Association (for aspects such as fullness, gloss, and scratch resistance); the second board will be sent to authoritative institutions for testing of indicators such as hardness, water resistance, adhesion, and thermal cycling; the third board will be evaluated on-site by an expert panel organized by the host based on the test results, ultimately revealing the total score results of the 2012 China Water-Based Wood Coatings On-Site Coating Competition. The top ten water-based wood coating manufacturers selected by the China Coatings Industry Association will be grandly recommended to the China Furniture Association and local furniture associations.

It is reported that the China Coatings Industry Association, in conjunction with the China Water-Based Wood Coatings Industry Technology Alliance, has specially collaborated with the China Furniture Association, Shanghai Furniture Association, Jiangsu Furniture Association, Zhejiang Furniture Association, Guangdong Furniture Association, Dongguan Famous Furniture, and domestic large-scale furniture enterprises to jointly hold the [2012 China Water-Based Wood Coatings On-Site Coating Competition] at the CICE2012 Shanghai Coatings Exhibition. At that time, dozens of top domestic and international water-based wood coating suppliers will compete on-site at the Shanghai New International Exhibition Center, showcasing their skills akin to experts gathering at Mount Hua for a showdown.
