FireFox 3.0 is still at the RC1 stage, but news of version 3.1 has already emerged. A technical manager at Mozilla stated that FireFox 3.1 will be released in the next six months. Naturally, 3.1 belongs to the FireFox 3 series branch and will fully refine the features that are currently incomplete in FireFox 3. Users can expect this version as early as the end of this year. Version 3.1 will improve support for audio and video features in HTML5, support cross-site XMLHttpRequests (XHR), enhance the address bar and some performance corrections in FireFox 3, and provide JSON DOM binding, which will help web developers analyze web pages. FireFox 4 is expected to be released around the second half of 2009. The current functionality is not very clear, but it may include a brand-new JS engine.
