At around 10 in the morning on the fifth day, Mr. Liu, who lives in a large courtyard in Tangjialing, Haidian District, prepared to drive out to visit relatives and friends. When he walked to his car, he suddenly found that the car window glass, rear windshield, trunk, and other parts had been smashed, but there was no loss of any items inside the car. At the same time, Mr. Liu also noticed that a Hyundai car and an Alto parked nearby had also been "disfigured." Subsequently, several car owners reported the incident to the police one after another. After receiving the report, the police officers from the Xibeiwang Police Station and patrol officers arrived at the scene. The police reviewed the surveillance footage around the crime scene and eventually discovered that at around 2:59 AM on the fifth day of the New Year, a man wearing a black down jacket was seen loitering near the cars. Based on the physical characteristics of the man, the police compared him with the footage from over 20 building entrances within the courtyard, as well as the passages and main gate. After more than four hours, the police captured the suspect Shi Mou in a residential building near the scene. Upon investigation, Shi Mou confessed that he is a chef at a certain unit. That night, he drank too much with friends due to dissatisfaction with his job, and subsequently, fueled by alcohol, he used a brick to smash three cars parked in the courtyard.
