South Daily News report (by reporter Cao Si, intern Zhou Fengcan, correspondent Ma Jun) - In the NICU ward of Guangzhou Women and Children's Medical Center, a small baby lies in an incubator about 50 centimeters long, her round big eyes curiously looking around.

Her name is Yan Xia B, yesterday marked the third month since she arrived in this world, and her current weight has reached 2 kilograms. Who would have thought that three months ago she only weighed 600 grams and was an extremely low birth weight infant.

Generally speaking, a normal newborn should weigh around 2.5 kilograms at birth. Zhang Yi, deputy director of the Neonatal Department at Zhujiang New Town Branch of Guangzhou Women and Children's Medical Center, introduced that infants weighing less than 1000 grams belong to extremely low birth weight infants. The hospital successfully treated a newborn weighing 650 grams in 2008, and this time baby B's weight was even lighter, only 600 grams!

The current baby B stretches lazily one moment and yawns the next, very cute. However, baby B's current liveliness is hard-won. Due to being born too early, her organs were extremely immature, putting her in constant danger of losing her life. This fragile baby has been tenaciously fighting against fate, overcoming many challenges including breathing, infection, feeding, jaundice, and anemia.

With the help of medical staff, baby B has pulled through. Now she can breathe on her own without needing a ventilator anymore and can also start eating slowly.
