Peng Pei is an ordinary police officer in Lankao County and also a member of the post-80s generation. Last year, one of his comrades died in the line of duty, and during the farewell ceremony, the numerous common people who spontaneously showed up deeply moved him. As a result, he composed the song "Because I Am a Policeman" and posted it on Weibo.

This song touched many netizens and also moved the policemen. An old traffic cop in Zhengzhou listened to it and sighed, "Serving the people, being tired doesn't matter because we are policemen."

Weibo: The Song Was Widely Pursued, Netizens Were Deeply Moved

"Being a policeman, I want to protect my country; the reliance of the people makes me feel proud; being a policeman, no matter what wind or rain, no matter how hard, I am not afraid because I am a policeman..."

In the afternoon of yesterday, the reporter found Peng Pei's personal Sina Weibo account. On the afternoon of April 1st, Peng Pei posted the MV of "Because I Am a Policeman" here. Currently, his number of "fans" has exceeded twenty thousand.

Not only was this song enthusiastically forwarded by numerous netizens, but it was also included by many music websites. In the song's comments, the majority of netizens said they were "very moved." Netizen "56" commented, "Good-sounding and touching. It's not easy being a police officer. After listening to this song, I feel that the work of the police is very sacred and arduous. Wishing good people peace all their lives! Listening to this made me want to be a police officer!"

On the morning of April 3rd, Peng Pei wrote in his latest Weibo post: "As the Qingming Festival approaches, as a grassroots police officer, I hereby pay my highest respects to the heroic martyrs across China who have sacrificed their precious lives for the well-being of the people. It is you who have used your lives to bring peace to thousands of households, and you will forever live in the hearts of the people!"

Colleague: Serving the People, Being Tired Doesn't Matter

Yesterday, after listening to the song "Because I Am a Policeman," an old traffic cop with ten years of experience in Zhengzhou particularly liked one sentence in the song.

"Shuttling through streets and alleys, shining with brilliance, this is my choice for the brilliance in my heart." This old traffic cop said that he believes being a policeman is something to be proud of, "Serving the people, being tired doesn't matter because we are policemen."

"It's normal for our shirts to be soaked with sweat, sometimes when I clench my fists, sweat can be squeezed out of my gloves." The old traffic cop said that even though riding motorcycles under scorching sun or snow, weaving through streets and alleys, whenever he sees smooth traffic and resolved accidents, he feels very gratified.

A police officer from Miaoli Police Station also agreed, "This song is a true reflection of us policemen. Post-80s policemen can write such emotional songs, and I feel proud of him."

Dialogue: Composing This Song, To Entrust My Grief

Regarding some issues netizens are concerned about, Henan Business Daily connected with Peng Pei yesterday afternoon.

Reporter: I heard you're from the post-80s generation. Could you introduce yourself first?

Peng Pei: Hello everyone, I'm Peng Pei, from Kaifeng, Henan Province. I'm 24 years old and an ordinary police officer in the Publicity Department of the Lankao County Public Security Bureau, also a member of the post-80s generation.

Reporter: What made you think of composing this song initially?

Peng Pei: In March 2010, a deputy director of the Lankao County Public Security Bureau sacrificed his life on the way back to Lankao after handling a case. When we were seeing him off, many common people came spontaneously to the scene. I saw many people crying and following his hearse all the way, and the scene deeply touched my heart.

At that moment, I had an idea to compose a song for those policemen who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty, to entrust my grief. Over the next year, I created "Because I Am a Policeman" during my spare time from work.

Reporter: You completed the singing, lyrics writing, and music composition all by yourself. Did you receive any musical training before?

Peng Pei: I just like music, at an amateur level. When I was in kindergarten, my family enrolled me in a guitar class, and I fell in love with music then. Later, I also formed a band. Being a policeman is my career, but music is my hobby.

Reporter: Many netizens commented that this song is very touching. What do you think?

Peng Pei: Even now, when I listen to this song that I created myself, I am deeply moved because it embodies my profound respect for the profession of a policeman.

My father is a policeman, and watching his busy figure since childhood made me aspire to become a policeman. In late 2007, I became a policeman. More than three years of police work has let me truly understand the burdens and responsibilities of frontline police officers, but just as I wrote in my song, "The reliance of the people makes me feel proud."
