In order to provide remote sensing information services for the earthquake relief decision-making of relevant national departments, the Center for Earth Observation and Digital Earth of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) announced online on May 16th the first batch of satellite data about the disaster areas for free download and use by relevant departments.
Currently, the full range of disaster area data received by the CAS Center for Earth Observation follows these usage principles:
One, pre-disaster and post-disaster data including TM, SPOT2.4, IRS-P6, Radarsat-1 etc., are available online for users to freely download and use;
Two, relevant data and technical services as stipulated in intergovernmental agreements will be provided in a timely manner to departments specified in such agreements;
Three, commercial methods will be used to prioritize the provision of satellite data and technical services for commercial satellite data;
Four, classified remote sensing data will be handled according to the relevant regulations of the Academy and the State.
