Nandu News reporter Tufeng and correspondent Haigongxuan - Recently, at the Liwan Dock in Haizhu District, a mother jumped into the river in an attempt to commit suicide due to her frustration over her unruly children who had been difficult to discipline for a long time. Fortunately, Officer Zhao from the Nanzhou Police Station of the Haizhu Branch arrived in time after receiving the emergency call and saved the life of this mother.

At around 2 AM on November 14th, during a chilly Guangzhou autumn night, a despondent woman was seen wandering at the Liwan Dock. Suddenly, she leaped into the dark and icy river.

Several citizens who witnessed the incident rushed over to check, "Call the police quickly!" Someone immediately took out their phone and dialed 110.

In the cold river, the suicidal woman was struggling.

After receiving the emergency call, Officer Zhao from the Nanzhou Police Station patrol unit promptly arrived at the scene. Without even having time to take off his uniform, he dived into the river. As he jumped from the bank, he had already aimed for a spot several meters near where the woman had fallen. He spread his arms wide and swam forcefully towards the woman.

Within a few seconds, the officer reached the side of the suicidal woman. He attempted to pull her towards him, but possibly due to her extreme nervousness, she kept flailing her hands uncontrollably. As time passed, her strength was severely depleted, and she began to sink. The cold river water at dawn was frigid, and with his soaked uniform becoming heavy, combined with the rapid loss of body heat due to the low temperature, the officer also started to feel exhausted. To ensure safety, he managed to keep the woman's body afloat steadily in the river.

In the critical moment, reinforcements led by the leadership of the Nanzhou Police Station arrived.

"Throw the lifebuoy down, everyone hold onto the rope tightly." The backup officers began rescue operations separately. After about ten minutes, with everyone's joint efforts, Officer Zhao finally returned to the shore while holding the suicidal woman with one hand and gripping the life-saving equipment with the other.

Although the person was rescued, the officers were not yet relaxed. Facing the silent suicidal woman, the station leader and others began taking turns to patiently counsel her. The woman claimed that she was 38 years old, surnamed Huang, and from Shantou, Guangdong Province. Due to her children's unruliness and lack of discipline, she became extremely disheartened and decided to jump into the river.

The officers then escorted Ms. Huang back home overnight. They informed her family of the situation, asking them to patiently counsel her and help discipline her children. Meanwhile, they consoled Ms. Huang to cherish her life and communicate patiently with her children.
